Welcome to Simplicity Farm & Mercantile!

Simplicity Farm & Mercantile is nestled on Blue Hill Mountain, along the beautiful &
picturesque coast of Down
East Maine.  Here, we enjoy the many simple pleasures
of country living from tending our vegetable gardens, to cutting & arranging fresh
flowers, and harvesting & cooking with the fruits from our trees.  We also raise
alpacas for their luxurious fiber to use in yarns, clothing, household goods and
gifts.
Our herd currently consists of nine Huacaya alpacas, all non-breeding boys
who's sole purpose is to grow fiber for our premium farm yarn.
We've always
loved to be surrounded by old things from a simpler time and enjoyed gardening
and nature, but
when we began raising alpacas we were even more inspired to
move to a more rural community and raise our family in a healthier way.  Farming
has made us more aware of our environment - the air we breath, the food we eat
and the land we live on.  We have learned to make better choices for our own
future and that of our planet's.

We operate an old fashioned country store, or mercantile, at our farm.  It is our
hope to share the joys of country living with others through
Simple Living Goods.
These are items one might use to enjoy a simple and pleasurable lifestyle while
focusing on the health and wellbeing of both themselves and our planet.  These
socially responsible products fall under one or more of the following categories:
n
atural, organic, earth friendly, chemical free, cruelty free, locally produced, fair
trade, sustainable, recycled
, and most importantly simple  & useful.  Our
mercantile supports a world wide movement towards simplifying our lives and
slowing down the pace, so that we may all be a bit more present in the moment
and aware of life's simple pleasures.  It's about WHOLE living - nurturing each and
every facet of your life
, while positively impacting the lives of others.

In our mercantile, you will find things like natural fiber yarns (specializing in alpaca
of course) & knitting supplies; clothing & gifts made with alpaca fiber; all natural
soy candles, soaps & lotions; chemical free laundry & cleaning supplies; health and
therapeutic items; fresh
eggs;  books & magazines related to country life,
sustainable living &  health; organic fair trade coffees and herbal teas; locally
made pottery and handcrafts;
natural baby gifts; items made of recycled materials
including rugs, tote bags, wallets and aprons;
and some perfectly good second
hand things.  These are just a sampling of some of the interesting things you will
find in our little country mercantile.  We hope our back-to-basics products and
ideas help inspire you to create a life for yourself that is a bit more relaxing, a bit
less hectic and a bit more meaningful.
